You Don't Have To Run, YOU CAN WALK

Image
For the past few days Garmin has been having problems so I was not accurately tracking and logging my walk. I knew the distance but the time was approximate. Today was I wasn't sure if my Garmin tracker would work, but I started it up and went for my walk. Well, my normal path was altered so I had to approximate the distance. When trying to establish a new healthy habit, or any new habit for that matter, it takes on average 66 days. I may not be exact on how far I walked or how long it took, but I sure do know I have walked 7 out of past 8 days. Just because I missed one day, it's no reason to throw in the towel. In the long run... in 66 days, missing a day or two won't matter because I WILL have established a new healthy habit. One component needed to loose weight is more movement. I need to move more. I am not ready for strenuous exercise but I can walk. I do not have to sprint, run, or jog, I just need to move more. Walking is perfect for me right now. Knowing exactly ho...

More COVID-19 cases or New Norm?

Image
I have ninety-some entries in my blog that include the number of new cases and deaths reported in Los Angeles County. I keep hearing the term, "the new norm," when referring to wearing masks and "safe social distancing" practices. What I see as the "new norm," is about 1,200-1,500 new COVID-19 cases reported daily. The more we see something, it eventually becomes the new normal . It may or may not be something good, but it does become the new normal. Seeing 1,200-1,500 new cases reported daily is becoming normal. This thought process affects my health. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am in various high risk categories. *sigh* So even though I wear a mask and wash my hands often, ... it seems many around me are not doing the same. They are finding it acceptable to see 1.3K+ per day and because it's normal, no need to adhere to safety measures. Perhaps what I just said is not accurate, but it is how it feels to me.  Yesterday the dai...

I am proud of how far I have come and I am looking forward to each and every day as I continue to make progress on my health journey. I ♥️ my health journey. I ♥️ how much fuller my life is becoming.

Day 7: Shot the Arrow Thru the Apple

Image
ON TARGET! Today is Day 7 on my journey to optimal health. I feel great! This morning I got up and noticed my belt was not as tight as it normally is. I thought maybe I buckled it too loose? Nope, it was right where I always wear it. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I also noticed a slight gap between the belt buckle and the button on my pants. Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day, and I can not wait to see what the scale says. I have been sticking the program diligently. I have also managed to not drink any soda, tea, or coffee all week. Yes, I do miss them but my optimal goal is way more important to me than 7 days with no soda, tea or coffee. All week I stayed on target and today was a great day. I went out to try my hand at archery. Awesome! My arm is a tired from this new activity but I managed to also hit the target on the range. That was my arrow that hit the apple. I also managed to pop the balloon from 20 yards out. Not bad for a newbie. The introd...
