Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am so happy a new year has started. What happen in the past, happen in the past. It's a new year, new opportunities, new challenges, a new me. I have said it before and I'll say it again. It does not matter how many times you fall as long as you get up one more time. In 2015 I wanted loose weight and I did. I did not lose all of the weight I wanted to waste and then I gained 'most' of it back. Not very happy about the latter. I am proud of myself though because I did manage to loose a pant size and have not gained that back. I am also proud that I completed my first every Mud Run. It was tough, but I actually did it. I feel like I did blog more than years prior but not as much as I would have liked. I managed to take an online course on blogging. Hoping that is showing in my posts. I set goals, not all were met, but I did make some progress. Now it's 2016! Time to set some short term goals, not New Year's Resolutions. Those don'...

2nd Wind and Grand Parisian Salad

Image
Monday was a holiday so today was my usual mundane Monday ritual of doing housework. After a 3 day weekend, I felt sleepy all day long. It felt like such a blah day. All of a sudden I got a second wind. I am a fan of The Biggest Loser and of Jillian Micheals. Today I found out Jillian Micheals will be returning to The Biggest Loser for season 14. Yay! My motivator and motivating show are on their way, January 2013. I want to share what I had for dinner, Grand Parisian Salad. I added Jennie-O Turkey Kielbasa, celery, kale, and some bell peppers.

Unexpected Pleasant Surprise

The thing that stood out the most for me today was a very unexpected pleasant surprise. On Tuesday's I volunteer in my son's kindergarten class. Out of nowhere this young man comes up to me and addresses me by name and says, "Mrs. G, I made a flower for you." It was very sweet. I thanked him and brought the flower home. I meant to take a picture of it to post but, ... I forgot. It was made of pieces of geometric shaped paper. During my 30 minute lunch break I listened to part of podcast #14 of "Two Fit Chicks and a Microphone" and it was perfect timing. The part I listen to spoke about shin splints. I realized that the slight pain I felt during yesterday's walk is called "shin splints." I learned that I could use ice to help relieve some of the pain; for next time I can use arch inserts and try not landing on my heel when walking. During the evening, I got to watch the only TV I watch on a regular basis: The Biggest Loser. The episode was o...

Busy Buzzing Week

Image
I knew this week would be full. Stuff packed back to back with little to no downtime to get ready for the next activity. Tomorrow may be Friday and the end of the week for most. For me, it is just a couple of days stamped on the calender because it will be blended into next week. What have I been doing? Well, on Monday I attended a Wellness Program that is trying to start up at two local Elementary Schools. I do not have that link handy at the moment but at some point I will end up sharing more about it because it seems like something I do want to be involved in. Tuesday I spent the day volunteering in my Kindergartener's class. That is always fun. I really do enjoy working with the kids and listening to their interpretation of our world. I was told I know how to count to 100 because I went to high school. But, I actually did learn something I did not know. Well, maybe I did, but I can't say I remember every learning anything about penguins when I was in grade ...

Biggest Loser Season 12

A new season of the Biggest Loser. I feel like this season is really a new season, a new start. 3 trainers with groups separated into age groups. I do miss seeing Jillian Michaels on the show but it is not going to prevent me from watching the show. The end result for me is the motivation I get to continue on my weight loss journey. It is a constant reminder that people heavier than I can lose weight without extreme dieting or surgeries. I will be watching the show every week and tweeting about it. @MrsGsJourney

2011_0106 LoseIt!

It's the sixth day of 2011. I think I am finally done with a lingering cold. The new season of The Biggest Loser started this week. I taped it and watched it the following morning. It seems this season will be full of twists and turns as two new trainers are introduced. Jillian will not be part of the next season of The Biggest Loser. There is no word yet if she will be returning or not. Every week I will be taping the show and watching it the following morning. So, if any wants to chit-chat about the show feel free to contact me. I will also be listening weekly to Mike and Jackie's podcast about The Biggest Loser. If you are interested in that podcast, it is listed on the right hand side of my blog page. I have been on a journey to lose weight for some time now. I keep letting other things get in the way and postpone my weight loss. I finally got out of the stone age and got a new cell phone, and iPhone 3Gs. It has opened up a world of possibilities for me. One of which is t...

2009_1208 Not Easy

It's not easy loosing weight when you don't make it a priority. Last week was a tough one for me. It was the last week of school for my kid and so I had to bake cookies for his class. While I did have a difficult time staying away from the cookies, I did well. I had 6 cookies out of the 6 dozen I baked and the other 10-12 dozen that were at school. We went to plays, tree lightings, and special craft days, lost a lot of sleep. I have been so sleep deprived that I even fell asleep feeding the baby once. It's a new week and I can not give up. I have to keep at it and use the treadmill if nothing else. So far my best time is one mile in just under 23 minutes. I've noticed that on days I do not take Jillian's dietary supplements and I don't drink the slim fast shake in the morning, I am hungry all day long no matter what I eat, no matter how much I eat. BTW, I used to have my twitter updates appear on this blog, but that is all messed up. Apparently I am not the only...
