To re-start my journey I need to know where I am and where I want to be. It’s obvious I need to continue shedding weight, roughly 40lbs. Other things are not so obvious. Therefore I had blood work done: Complete Blood Count (CBC), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Creatinine, Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Hemoglobin A1C, Lipid Panel, Sodium and Potassium. Oh boy, they took 4 vials of blood!   Within 24 hours I had the results of the 7 tests. Most of those tests say I am doing okay but could be better. ONE test was nuts! Practically off the chart! I may not be a doctor, or fully understand what the number means, but this one alarmed me and my doctor. First off, I do have an appointment set up to talk to my doctor about all the results, especially this ONE test.   The ONE test was the A1C. Without sharing self identifiable data, this is what the test result looks like. A score 12.7 is alarming! I have been identified as having type-2 diabetes. Wow! Uhm? Hmmm? As a result of ...

2025 New Chapter: Soft Start

Hello World! Looks like I have been gone for nearly two years! I’m back to continue my journey to losing weight and better health all around. That is not to say I have not been making progress. I did slow down while I made other things in my life a higher priority. But, let me toot my own horn for a second. From. August 2024 to September 2025 I managed to shed 40 lbs., 2 pant sizes and finished up my college degree. Yay me. There is still a lot going on in my world but my health is important. The more weight I shed, the easier it is for me to move around. It keeps getting easier and easier to sit on the floor and get back up. I’m not jumping up off the ground, but I can get up with no assistance. I am seeing and feeling improvement.  Why start blogging and tweeting again now? What works for me to help me focused, stay motivated, and make progress is blogging and tweeting. Blogging is a way to talk to myself, document my journey, reflect on my choices (both good and bad ones), and s...

2023 Week 1

First week of 2023 is officially over. No gain but no real loss either.  Taking it slow to figure out where I want to be and how to get there. I may not have clear path but that is nothing new. What I am focusing on is on mini-mile stones I can aim for that will ultimately lead me to my overall goal. This past week I focused on types of meals that work for my busy unstable schedule. I penciled in ways to get a workout on good days, bad days, busy days, rainy days, etc. Basically I made plans, back up plans, contingency plans, and worst case scenario plans.  Will it work? Maybe, maybe not. What I do know is I have multiple ways to achieve my goals and reach my mini-milestones.
