2009_1122 One Week Down

This past week I managed to go on a brisk walk 4 out of 7 days and on twice on 2 days. I also took the dietary supplements. The end result for the week was a 1.5lb weight loss. It was not big number. But I am happy it was a loss and not a gain. So for this week my goal will be to walk 5 days and continue to take the dietary supplements. This week will be challenging because of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday filled with LOTS of good food. To help me focus we've decided to rearrange the living room. We have a small living room and it just got smaller. We bought a treadmill and it is in the living room. I can watch the kids play in the living room our out in the tiny patio while I walk. If it a cold day, raining, windy, hot, ... whatever the weather, I will still be able to walk without exposing the kids to the less than perfect weather. The treadmill is not a fancy one. We got it at Sam's Club. It was still not that cheap, but we got it. Our reasoning for getting it and sticking it

2009_1115 A New Week

It seems that my taking a stroll here and there is not working to shed the pounds off. But it has made it clear that I can actually get out the door. So tomorrow my goal is to go out for a brisk walk instead of a stroll AND to so some sort of workout video at home. I need to make exercising a higher priority. It is difficult to do when you have lots of housework you want and need to get done, when the kids need you, when you have responsibilities, ... but I have put my health on the back burner for too long. I am kissing 200lbs and I am 5'6", that is not healthy at all. I read that Jillian Michaels, one of the trainers from the show, "The Biggest Loser" has these dietary supplement pills to help with burning fat and calories. I went out and got them a week ago. (Found them available at Wal-Greens, Target, and Walmart.) I took them once but got side-tracked with ... life. I will start taking them tomorrow as directed. I am hoping that with the increased exercise, the

2009_1112 Sleepy Walk

Getting out the door to go for a walk in our neighborhood is such a challenge. I have to do diaper checks, get snacks, and wrestle shoes on the kids... Finally after 20 minutes I'm ready to go down the stairs into the garage. We make it to the garage and then I have to back up the car a bit to get the stroller out of the trunk of the car. Why? Because when the car is in the garage, the car's trunk can not be fully opened. I get the double stroller out and roll the car back into the garage. Whoo-hooo! We're off. This walk seemed to be harder for me because both kids were in the stroller the entire walk, thus making the stroller heavier, much, much heavier on the uphill part of the walk.

2009_1111 Happy Veteran's Day

It may be Veteran's Day, but not everyone takes the time to honor our military veterans. It was a challenge getting out the door with two little ones, but we made it. We took a stroll and observed a construction site busy moving dirt and rocks around. We also found Verizon FiOS trucks parked at 3 homes, and an air duct cleaning service truck at in front of another home. Our walk took about an hour and we only saw ONE home proudly waving an American Flag.
