Busy Buzzing Week

Image
I knew this week would be full. Stuff packed back to back with little to no downtime to get ready for the next activity. Tomorrow may be Friday and the end of the week for most. For me, it is just a couple of days stamped on the calender because it will be blended into next week. What have I been doing? Well, on Monday I attended a Wellness Program that is trying to start up at two local Elementary Schools. I do not have that link handy at the moment but at some point I will end up sharing more about it because it seems like something I do want to be involved in. Tuesday I spent the day volunteering in my Kindergartener's class. That is always fun. I really do enjoy working with the kids and listening to their interpretation of our world. I was told I know how to count to 100 because I went to high school. But, I actually did learn something I did not know. Well, maybe I did, but I can't say I remember every learning anything about penguins when I was in grade

Bowling

Image
Today we participated in our first fund raiser for 2012 for my son's school. We went to the Mother Son Bowling Event. The event was 2 hours long. It was so much fun that it actually felt more like 45 minutes. But, based on all the sweaty kids and the tired out moms all around, it also felt longer than 2 hours. I got my exercise for the day done, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Trying To Catch Up On Sleep

Image
It has been two weeks since my last blog entry. Since then, I have played nurse to my sick boy, then I myself got sick, then scared away dinosaurs in the middle of the night from my son's room, cooled off my daughter's fever, and ... all throughout this journey I lost a lot of sleep. The past 3 days I have been pushing to sleep an extra 30-45minutes a night. My headaches from lack of sleep are finally subsiding. Yay! The picture above was from our "Mommy & Me" class this week. My girl seems to enjoy the class, signing "The Wheels On The bus" while sitting on my lap. Her smile always make me feel better. After all those days of chaos, she certainly brightened my day. Well, I hope now I can get back to focusing on eating healthier, losing weight, doing my yoga DVDs, walking, blogging and everything else too.

Yoga Meltdown

Image
Today for the first time, ever, I tried yoga. I got the Yoga Meltdonw by Jillian Michaels. Workout #1 is for beginners, me. The moves/poses were easy to duplicate. What was not so easy was holding certain poses for more than 5 seconds. The sideways plank was a bit tough for me. Not the plank itself, but bending/twisting my ankle at that angle was challenging. In fact, it started to hurt, so I stopped. Tomorrow, I will skip the sideways plank on my right side. Yes. I will do yoga again tomorrow. Goal Updates: My originally planned walk for today got messed up. As I was getting ready to head out, I found out the tires on the jogging stroller flat. I was bummed out about it. That is when I decided to do the yoga DVD. I was not able to go for walk, but I still wanted some sort of exercise for the day. Water? Ugh. I did not drink enough despite the fact I felt thirsty most of the day. Tomorrow's Goals: Drink water. Yoga Meltdown DVD

Ruffles vs Special K

Image
The past two days in a row I have gained weight. This is bothersome because the past two days I walked FIVE miles each day. I decided to examine what I did the day before and what I ate. Nothing really stood out. It was bugging me. So, I broke out the pencil and paper and wrote things out and I saw what contributed to some of the weight gain. I can not say it caused all of the weight gain, but it did enlighten me. So here are my findings. What you see in the picture is ONE serving of two types of chips. On the left is regular plain Ruffles potato chips. On the right is sour cream and onion Special K cracker chips. I thought choosing the cracker chips was better for me than the potato chips, right? ------------------POTATO CHIPS ---------CRACKER CHIPS Serving Size------ 28 g ---------------------- 30 g Calories----------- 160 ---------------------- 110 Sodium------------ 160 mg -------------------- 230 mg Fiber---------------- 1g ---------------------

Semi-Rest Day?

This morning I woke up feeling a bit sore and very tired. I guess walking 5 miles two days in a row made an impact on me. Today, I decided not to exercise, to rest. Well, being that I live in the real world and have real everyday life to deal with. I went up and down stairs all day long collecting, doing and putting away laundry. All that along with the rest of the housework, and kids, and pets, and, and, ... by early afternoon I was ready to call it day. I did not call it a day. The day kept going on and on and on. Now I am a lot closer to actually being able to calling it day. I am watching The Biggest Loser Season #13 No Excuses! and blogging, synching my FitBit, drinking water. As soon as this show is over I will take some aspirin and getting some sleep. I feel like I am starting to catch a cold. Imagine that, it was a warm day in Southern California and I think I might be catching a cold. Goal Update: - Did not do the yoga DVD - Did not walk enough steps today (3,857 steps
