Sparking Day

Image
Today was a good day. I weighed myself in the morning and I saw a little loss. A loss is a loss and it is always better than a gain. I participated in my 2nd SparkPeople Live session of the week. It was the same topic, different SparkLeader and a different group of participants. Today's group seemed more social. I got the sense I have more in common with this group's day-to-day life-style, thus more I felt I could relate more to them. I have young kids. I do not smoke but I did grow up with a father who smoked all the time, so I know what it feels like to walk by someone smoking and want to inhale. After my session I quickly went to the swimming pool and did as many laps as possible in 45 minutes. I got tired and out of breath. Each time I would pause only long enough to get my breathing back. I think it was a good short workout. I quickly showered and did some actual work. By the time I was done with work, it was time to pick up my kid from school.

Sparkpeople Live Trial Run

Yesterday I attended a Sparkpeople Live Orientation. It was short but sufficient. During the orientation I got to test out the online session environment and became familiar with the usual layout of the session. Easy, simple, inviting, and very flexible. Today I attended my 1st actual session. An hour long session. It sounded like a long session. What can you possibly talk about so much in an hour? Turns out that an hour went by really fast. It felt more like 15 minutes. The SparkLeader kept us moving along, but not rushed. Lots of ground within the topic at hand was covered. I got to meet many friendly, supportive, encouraging, insightful people. I hope I jotted down their names correctly because I would love to connect with them. Tomorrow I plan on attending another session. Even though it is the same topic all week long, I would like to get a variety of input/discussion on the topic at hand. Also, if I go more often, I am more likely to focus on my weight loss journey more avidly pr

Sparkpeople Live Orientation

It was a busy day filled with meetings, errands, homework, ... and I managed to eat decently all day. Yay! I am so happy about that. Not so happy I only got 6K steps in today. Note to self: must look for more opportunities to walk 2-3 minutes longer with each errand I run. Tomorrow I will be attending the online orientation session for the Sparkpeople Live. I am looking forward it with excitement, curiosity, an open mind and a couple of restless butterflies in my tummy. If you have participated in Sparkpeople Live, please let me know what you liked and what you did not like. Any words of wisdom can share would be appreciated.

Retaining Water?

Last night I had salty food for dinner and I also remember drinking a lot of water. I'm going to take a guess that the 2.4 lbs gain I saw this morning was highly contributed by last night. *sigh* I did get to go swimming on Friday. My shoulders were pretty tired on Saturday. Saturday morning we went for a leisurely stroll through our local botanical garden. This morning I went for a walk. I walked at a slower pace than usual, but I did get my walk in, 4.7miles in 100 minutes. "Just keep moving, it will keep getting easier," it's what I keep telling myself. Today I got 13K steps in. Whoo-hooo! It is a new school year in our house and I have not heard anything about a new season of The Biggest Loser. In the past, school starts and I start seeing commercials left and and right. I am not happy about no new season because the show is my weekly dose of motivation, inspiration, reminder, ... call it anything you want, it helps me focus and keep going.

Entering A New School Year's Chaos

School has started for us again. We are in 1st Grade! Whoo-hooo! I'm happy and sad. Happy we are moving on, growing, ... sad my baby is growing and moving on. *sigh* But I will focus on I'm happy he is growing up happy, healthy, strong, and learning. This year I am volunteering for a number of things. I think I can handle it all since almost everything is done on the same two days each week. Makes it manageable to have a schedule where two days a week I live at my son's school. But I can't neglect my efforts to loose weight. It's been a roller coaster of a first week so I am trying to get a quick handle on it before the scales starts moving in an unwanted direction. I'm checking out the difference between Sparkpeople Coach and Sparkpeople Live. If you know the difference, or used either one, I'd love to hear from you. Tomorrow I am looking forward to getting in an hour in the swimming pool. I am not a good swimmer at all, but I figure the effort of working o

Hot Day!

Today was a hot day, and the rest of the week does not seem to be any cooler. I really did not feel like doing much today.

Roller Coaster

I knew I was spreading myself to thin and now I'm sniffling getting over a cold/cough/yukkie cootie fest. Ugh. Well, the worst is over, I hope. The milestone for me for the week is getting ready to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. I am so looking forward to it. Not much to do, order the cake and make the goodie baggies, that is all that is left.
