Teaming Up With FitBits

Image
Three out of four FitBits are setup and charged. We all have different goals. It's a BIG deal and it feels a little scary... but I'm kicking fear in the face and not worrying about "what if I/we fail?" Instead I am embracing, "It'll be awesome when we succeed *together*." It's not too late. I'd love to team up with you too. On walks, FitBit, LoseIt, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter... other venues? Let me know. MrsG.Journey@gmail.com

Enjoy The Rewards

Image
Enjoying the journey and living my life... as opposed to watching from the sidelines. A year ago I would take my kids to activities and find a place to sit and watch them have fun. Three days ago we volunteered to help Santa deliver goodies for FIVE hours. That means FIVE hours of physical activity. Later the same day, I walked up AND down a few flight of stairs. It was an AWESOME feeling. I was tired afterwards but my knees did not need icing. I also did not need a week to recover. Today I went to Pasadena to help Cal Poly decorate their Rose Parade Float. I assembled vials, cut flowers, popped marigolds, toured the faculty, and enjoyed a guilt-free chocolate chip cookie. Best part, I was not worried about: - finding a place to sit down, - wondering if I'd fit in a seat, - worried the walkways would be too narrow, - worried my knee would give out, and - concerned with physical exertion, The icing on the cake was: - being able to participate in every single activity

2019 Begins Today!

Image
"New Year's Resolutions" are usually made right about this time of year and Day 1 is set for January 01...I say, START TODAY! Aim high and crush those goals. Set up a plan of mini-steps that lead to your meeting your goals making 2019 a huge success. Let me know if I can support you. Maybe we can support each other.  I've got virtual goals and real goals. I will walk at least one continuous mile 2-3 times a week. I walk slow but I will walk. I'm keeping track using my FitBit Charge 3 and loving it. I'm logging using the LoseIt app...I've been consistent for 43 Days! Drinking water sometimes feels Challenging so I got me a bigger HydroFlask. Now I know filling it twice a day works for me. Love the new straw so I don't have to keep opening it. Got tips for me...please share. Want a "buddy" thru your journey, don't hesitate to reach out. Like @DaveJackson says, "The new YOU begins TODAY" email me or look me up on

Out Of My Comfort Zone!

Image
I can't expect to get different results if I keep doing the same thing. Today's "different" is I joined a 16 Week Weight Loss Group Challenge. I "kicked fear in the face," and did something out of my comfort zone. The challenge is different because it's with local folks who really don't know each other. We mostly interact online via Facebook. Going in I only know one other person, but I'm sure that will change. This challenge is also different because we have to pay to enter the challenge. Yes, we pay because there are cash prizes at the end of the challenge. The top three win money. 😬 I start Saturday. #DTW

Merry Christmas To Me!

Image
Merry Christmas! My Christmas present to me was a little something to help each and everyday. A ring inscribed with the wording, "KICK FEAR IN THE FACE" on one side. On the other side it has the hashtag #DTW which stands for "Do The Work." There are many little things I want to do and yet hold back due a fear of: -- What if I can't... -- What if it doesn't work... -- What if I'm not ready... -- What if my idea is a flop... -- What if I set the bar too high... -- What if?, What if?, What if?, ... I can't live in fear of succeeding, of dreaming big, of exploring the "What ifs." Today I did something I never would have done in the past. I signed up to help Santa deliver goodies all over town. On four hours of sleep I got up (with kids in tow), and went to the Fire Department. For 1 hour rode in the back of an old style fire truck with Santa and passed out goody bags filled with peanuts, candy, and fruit. Jumping up and down fr

Beauty Is All Around Us

Image
Some folks are my friends on Facebook and when I see them in person, I get a hi-five, a hug, a smile. It's awesome to keep the connection going and building our friendship. Then there the ones I rarely see in person and when we do see each other I still get a smile and a hug. What I find silly is the ones that are my "friends" on Facebook and I see very often and I seek out eye contact to share a smile, say "Hi", or wave "Hello," and they softly turn their face away. Once, twice, three times, days, weeks, months. Well, I guess our friendship has run out of life and yet they can't bring themselves to let go. It made me think of a tree and its leaves. Sometimes the leaves look dead but the tree won't let go. Finally the wind nudges them, and the tree and the leaf part. Fallen leaves are beautiful. They decorate and protect the ground so the tree can continue to transform and grow. Beauty is all around and that makes me smile. Whether you a

Count Down or UP?

Many start counting down right about now to Christmas. I'm counting UP, how many days in a row I reach my 10K steps a day, drink my water, get 7 hours of sleep, eat right, and have FUN. Today was a great day. **I got to walk in the San Dimas Christmas parade with my daughter and **I was not tired or winded at the end! **I got to eat at Red Robin and didn't undo my progress. **I did not eat a single cookie, candy cane, marshmallow, or cup of hot chocolate. BTW, yes I was tempted. I took one, quickly handed it to someone else and walked away from the table full of goodies. **Saw the Santa arrive and light the town's Christmas Tree. **Toured the Rail Road Museum **I caught up on some TV shows... while I was on the treadmill 😉 **I found a Kindness Advent Calendar and I'm doing it! **We caught a rare Pokémon in a raid today with help from 2 strangers we met at the raid. **"The only disability in life is a bad attitude." - Scott Hamilton **I finally
