Motivating Myself

It is tough to motivate myself to keep track of my caloric intake. It is even tougher to motivate myself to burn more calories than I take in. What I seem to like is gizmos and gadgets. I dug through my drawer and found an old heart rate monitor, put in a new battery, looked on line for the manual, and today I used my new old toy.

My day was spent wearing a Sportline SX Elite Heart Rate Monitor. For 10 hours it tracked my heart rate and how many calories I burned. At a quick glance of my wrist I could tell how many calories I had burned so far. Although I did not feel very active, seeing the caloric counter increase was nice. It seemed to put a little boost in my step to keep moving.

I tracked my food using the LoseIt! app. I went over my daily caloric budget by 82 calories. Not too bad for my first day back on my weight loss journey. I tracked my calories burned using my heart rate monitor 2800+ calories. As I said, it was not a very active day. My consolation, I think I burned enough calories today to balance out the extra 82 calories I consumed, and still come out ahead.

Tomorrow morning I will consult the bathroom scale and find out how today's efforts affected my first day.

If you have ideas how to keep myself motivated, please let me know. You can post a reply here, email me, post on FB, ... I'm always interested in new ideas.
