The season finale of The Biggest Loser is today! I am looking forward to it because it is also a day that I evaluate my progress and tweak it as necessary to achieve short term goals. Will you be watching the Biggest Loser? I will watching and tweeting along.

Happy New Year!

Image
Happy New Year! I am so happy a new year has started. What happen in the past, happen in the past. It's a new year, new opportunities, new challenges, a new me. I have said it before and I'll say it again. It does not matter how many times you fall as long as you get up one more time. In 2015 I wanted loose weight and I did. I did not lose all of the weight I wanted to waste and then I gained 'most' of it back. Not very happy about the latter. I am proud of myself though because I did manage to loose a pant size and have not gained that back. I am also proud that I completed my first every Mud Run. It was tough, but I actually did it. I feel like I did blog more than years prior but not as much as I would have liked. I managed to take an online course on blogging. Hoping that is showing in my posts. I set goals, not all were met, but I did make some progress. Now it's 2016! Time to set some short term goals, not New Year's Resolutions. Those don'...

School Year Resolution

It's the last day of September and my kids are back in school. In 180 days of school, he will complete 4th grade and she will complete 1st grade. What will I complete in that same amount of time? Lose weight, eat healthier, complete a 1/2 marathon, and complete a class or two toward a new career goal. The list is simple, actually doing it, not so simple. It is not January 1st, so I am not going to call it a New Year's Resolution. It is the start of a new school year, so I will call this my School Year Resolution. Okay, in following the school year calendar, 180 days are broken up into 3 tri-mesters. I too will break up my goals into tri-mester chunks. Having 3 check-points stating where I think I should will allow me to evaluate how well I am doing and how well my plan of action is doing as well. Some tweaks are normal and expected, but I will aim to not really heavily on that fact. My rough draft plan. Yes, rough draft because it's never a perfect plan and there...

Pushing Thru A Chaotic Day

Image
Today was a CRAZY day. The intentions were good but things kept happening to discourage my focus. In the end, I am moving through my journey a little slower, but still moving in the right direction. The morning skies looked cool and offered the promise of a sprinkle or two Little did I know they would yield a large  amount of rain suddenly and in a relatively  short  period  of time. The rest of the day was on and off  sprinkles and rain. Then the fun began. I took my cat to a heart specialist to find out if his heart is strong enough to be put under to remove a mass/growth from his gumline. While at the specialist, I get a phone call from a number I did not recognize. I let it go to voicemail. There is a moment when I have some downtime waiting in the vet's lobby, so I check my voicemail. It was my bank? The Fraud Department? *sigh* Apparently someone has decided to use my account in Brazil, Massachusetts, and Virginia and rack up A LOT of expenses. No. No. No....

Healthier Choice, Still Over Budget

Image
Today I did a better job than yesterday, but not by much. Overall it is a step in the right direction.  Here is the break down: + Logged all my calories using LoseIt + Consumed less calories. - Was over my daily caloric budget. + Consumed healthier food. - Had too much food. + Drank more fluids. - Had 2 glasses of diet soda. + Did some physical labor - Should have walked more, tracked by FitBit Here are some snapshots from my lunch today. The food at the Soupplantation was yummy. I would h ave had a third plate, but did not want to go further over budget than yesterday. Here is a glimpse at my physical labor. I swept a drive way and collected a can full of leaves and twigs. Getting into the gym to workout is not really an option for me, so I find ways like this to workout.

Break The Rollercoaster Scale

Time has been flying by this year. Although I do keep in mind trying to loose weight, I have not been focusing on it. I have started and restarted walking, eating better, getting more sleep, logging my food, and so on. Each time with renewed energy. I begin to see a hint of progress and I allow something to derail me. Perhaps it is because I know I can come back to it later, no one will condem me, and I really do know how to shed those 5 lbs I have regained. That right there is my problem at the moment. I keep loosing and gaining the same 5 lbs.  I need to break this cycle.I have excuses, better known as reasons, why this keeps happening. These past 2 weeks have been busy with 2 birthdays, an anniversary, and eating out for sheer convenience and lack of time to prep meals. Here are some samples of what my meals have been like: Banzai Buurger. Taco, tamale, enchilada, beans and rice. Bacon Cowboy BBQ Burger Shrimp, rice pilaf and asparagus. Key lime pie. And then there is cookies, m...

New Year, New Goal, New Plan

Image
The first week of the new year is over. It was short, but it is done. Tomorrow starts a new week. Actually, it is the first full week of 2015. With this in mind, I shall officially start my new goal, with  a new plan. My goal for 2015 is to loose weight. But! This time around loosing weight will be a sub goal of my main goal. I want to run/walk/crawl through my first 5K mud run. My plan to achieve this is to walk, use the Wii U Fit, and use RunKeeper's Beginner 5K Training Plan. How to accomplish my goals while still tending to my responsibilities is a challenge too. I will take it one week at a time. Today is Saturday, and so I am planning out my week today: workouts, meals, responsibilities, downtime, ... etc. Next Saturday I will review and adjust my planning based on lessons learned this coming week. Tomorrow is Sunday, January 4th. It is the official start of a new week, the first day of my training plan.
